"I’m riding to highlight the value of self care, as a healing process no matter what our situation . I also want to honor several people this year. First, I'm riding in memory of my brother who died Christmas Eve from cancer, and a smoking habit he could never kick. I'm also riding for my husband who just had a hip replacement and is doing great-- thanks to his underlying healthy lifestyle, I believe, and his indomitable can-do spirit. Lastly, and closer to home in terms of the Rally and Expresso bikes, I want to honor the memory of longtime Y member John McLeod who passed away in September 2023 after almost 12 years battling cancer. Throughout most of that time John was a reliable presence on these Expresso bikes at the Metrowest Y. His energy, steadfast good humor and enthusiasm for biking, the Y and his interest in fellow cyclists were his signature — along with the incredibly long seat post that told you John had been riding. Thanks for your support. Your pledge helps, in part, folks who may have difficulty affording membership, access the Metrowest YMCA and its range of options for healing self care. THANK YOU!"

The challenge is over and pledges are now closed, however you can still support the cause directly. Thank you for your support!
